* with certificate of Spanish nationality new film 2023
N°: 191420 ICCA of the Spanish Ministry of Culture
In the 1970s, groups of young Europeans entered the Sahara desert with the intention of crossing it and living “an adventure”. Unprepared, reckless and ignorant of the terrain they were crossing, they faced extreme situations with unexpected consequences.
From the passion of these young people for adventure, the most famous rally in the world was born.
“End of Trip Sahara” recounts one of those adventures.
Director and screenwriter Antonio R. Cabal tells us the reasons that make End of Trip Sahara an unusual film of 2023. Through unpublished images, he will reveal the challenges of the risky shooting and the bravery of the crew in this authentic “road movie”.
A fascinating adventure of 7,200 km across the Sahara through forbidden routes to reach the heart of the Tuareg people.

Antonio R. Cabal released in 1985 a film entitled “Sahara”. With great media impact, it was distributed through Warner, won several awards, was exported to more than 25 countries and was the first Spanish film sold to China. In 1990 the film was withdrawn from the market. It was never digitized, never released on DVD nor distributed on platforms.
Now, we have recovered the 25,000 of original unused discarded negative, remastered, restored, edited and post-produced the original material again, both image and sound, resulting in a new film, “End of Trip – Sahara”, with more than 1 hour of new visual material and new plots…and, as something unprecedented, once obtained from the Ministry of Culture the certificate of Spanish nationality as a new film 2023, we re-release it for distribution in national and international cinemas.
The film is unusual for its shooting and for what it tells. In this case, it tells the story of two people from Madrid who in 1973 decide to cross the desert in a Land Rover. When they cross paths with three Frenchmen, their journey becomes complicated with a love story and a confrontation with desert pirates… In addition, living in a Targuí village, a mysterious girl and Tuareg princess adds a magical touch to this adventure.
It is an authentic and real “road movie” of 7200 km through risky trans-Saharan tracks whose difficult filming ends in a Tuareg village in the deepest part of Algeria… It is a commercial product, with impressive photography, great technical workmanship, great acting performances and with original music and songs.
It is an unusual product.
